Job Description:

General knowledge and experience with regulations guides standards codes methods and practices necessary to perform routine and moderately complex assignments for a specific discipline installation or service.
Typically possesses zero to three years engineering experience.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria.
Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload

This contractor role supports the Field Engineering group within Distribution Engineering.
The engineer will work closely with Field Engineering teams to support capital project scoping field-based assessments and process improvement initiatives.
The role emphasizes technical analysis documentation and collaboration with internal stakeholders to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Conduct field assessments and power system modeling (e.g. load flow studies).
Support grid modernization infrastructure replacement and resiliency programs.
Scope capital projects including overhead/underground conductor replacements programmable capacitor control and fuse upgrades.
Document and track projects using SCEs Project Initiation Forms (PIFs) and Master Distribution Interface (MDI).
Provide recommendations and documentation for system and process improvements.
Assist in training and guiding engineering teams on new tools anda procedures.

Required Skills/Attributes

Working knowledge of the distribution grid automated equipment and telemetry systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical maps and schematicsFamiliarity with SCE applications (CYME DMS EMS Circuit Viewer ADMSetc.)
Basic understanding of engineering principles and electric power flowExperience with data validation troubleshooting and equipment testingProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Power Apps) for reporting and analysisStrong attention to detail organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasksEffective communication and collaboration skills with engineers field crews and stakeholders
