About the role
Collaborate with emergency department teams to provide compassionate timely support for people experiencing suicidal distress
Empower individuals to identify their needs and connect with essential community and support services
Contribute to service improvement by collecting meaningful data and supporting evaluation of outcomes
Support smooth service operations by assisting with day-to-day activities and team priorities
Commit to ongoing professional growth through reflective practice Communities of Practice and mandatory training
Deliver culturally safe and respectful care upholding NSW Health standards the Code of Conduct and St Vincents Hospital Closing the Gap strategy
About you
Bring lived experience of suicidal crisis to provide powerful peer support
Hold or be willing to complete within 18 months a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (Consumer) with knowledge of Intentional Peer Support
Apply person-centred recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches when supporting people at risk of suicide
Understand suicide prevention practice including crisis response safety planning risk management and lived-experience-informed service delivery
Work collaboratively with consumers families/carers colleagues and stakeholders bringing strong communication organisational and digital skills with experience in community or NSW Health settings
