About the role Mō te tūranga:
Our Dunedin laboratory is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the General team. This is a part-time position of 40 hours fortnightly.
You will embrace a culture of continuous improvement and solutions focused mindset to ensure a high level of quality and service. The first point of contact for samples arriving at the lab and a customer service superstar for our clients. You will work collaboratively as part of the team to receive and dispatch samples to our healthcare professionals. Must be friendly approachable and have great customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory analyses in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
- Accurately document and report results in line with quality standards and requirements.
- Manage workload to ensure timely delivery of results while maintaining high technical and quality standards.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities continuous improvement and efficient team operations.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
- Ability to absorb evaluate and respond to information and ideas in a positive manner.
- Highly motivated and driven with professional attitude.
- Ability to work well under pressure and safety and quality conscious.
- Ability to organise prioritise and focus on daily work to meet turnaround times.
- Continuous improvement mind set.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
- Enthusiasm energy and a driven outlook.
- A NZ Restricted or Full Drivers license
- A BSc majoring in microbiology or genetics would be an advantage
