About the role Mō te tūranga:
Our Biochemistry Department is seeking two motivated enthusiastic and capable Medical Laboratory Technicians to join our team. These are permanent part-time roles of 64 hours per fortnight this will include 2 consecutive night shifts (23:30 to 07:30 Friday night and Saturday night) one weekend per fortnight.

In these roles you will play a key part in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the department. Working collaboratively with a supportive and skilled team you will carry out a range of medical laboratory technician duties that contribute directly to high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse blood samples following established biochemistry protocols and procedures.
• Report results in line with quality standards and client specifications.
• Ensure timely turnaround of results while upholding quality and technical standards.
• Contribute to quality control operational improvements and efficiency initiatives within the biochemistry team.

To be successful in this role:

• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
• A team focus with initiative excellent interpersonal and communication skills and possess the ability to work in a fast paced deadline-oriented environment.
• Sound knowledge of laboratory operations including safety quality assurance processes operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand under the scope of Medical Laboratory Technician and a current Annual Practicing Certificate is desirable. The ability to register with the council requires a biological science-related degree applications from eligible non-registered candidates may be considered depending on experience.
• Available to work rostered and rotating weekends and evenings. Please note these hours attract penal rates.
• A current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
