Orchard Farm School District is seeking a certified Science teacher to join our high school team!

Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning. This includes implementing effective curriculum managing a positive classroom environment utilizing technologyfor instruction and record-keeping and actively collaborating with the school community to supportstudent success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate (Biology 9-12)
  • Knowledge of state standards federal and state regulations and law
  • Knowledge of subject matter content and assessment strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculumand instruction
  • Ability to relate to students staff and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication
  • Ability to problem solve

Additional Position Information:

  • Biology 9-12 Certification Required
  • Additional 9-12 Science Content Certifications (i.e. Chemistry Earth Science etc.) is preferred
  • The ideal candidate for this position would hold a Masters Degree in the content or have the ability to teach dual credit courses
  • OFHS current student population approximately 750 (our district is rapidly growing)
  • New High School opened January 2024 with state of the art Science Labs
  • Comprehensive Science offerings include college credit/AP offerings PLTW Biomedical Science Track Agricultural Science courses and more

An individual who holds this position is required to:

  • Provide instruction to students
  • Create and implement a classroom disciplinary plan
  • Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction
  • Participate in building grade level and subject area committees
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance grades and discipline
  • Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
  • Participate as a member of an IEP team 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested
  • Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans individual educational programs and individual health plans
  • Report suspected abuse neglect discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy
  • Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
  • Subject area teachers may have additional duties and responsibilities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

An individual who holds this positionis required to:

  • Move around a classroom frequently. Allocation of movement are generally 10% sitting 45% walking and 45% standing.
  • Perform some lifting carrying reaching pushing and pulling.
  • Speak and hear in a noise environment with numerous conversations and activities.
