Join us as our new Department Manager for our Wastewater and Biomass treatment Plant.

We are expanding our organization following a very large expansion project that will redefine not only our wastewater treatment processes but also the way we work. We are looking for a Department Manager for the treatment plant. Join us be part of the development and operation of one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in Scandinavia.

As a Department Manager you will be responsible for leading the daily operations of the plant. This includes ensuring safe efficient and high-quality operation fostering a collaborative culture and setting the direction for continuous improvement. You will oversee a team consisting of 6 production teams a day shift team and a maintenance team all organized under 3 dedicated team leaders who report directly to you.

Welcome to Environmental Operation

Environmental Operation comprises a main operation department (Wastewater and Biomass Treatment) a Process and Technology team and other site support functions.

The treatment plant handles wastewater and production-biomass from both Novonesis and Novo Nordisk on Site Kalundborg. We are part of Novonesis production organization covering the regional flow of all materials from raw material inventories through fermentation recovery and granulation.

Environmental operation employs approximately 70 people.

Environmental Operation operates a large scale biological wastewater treatment plant. It includes anaerobic pretreatment and gas utilization biological carbon and nitrogen removal and final polish before discharge to Kalundborg Municipality. The plant is currently being expanded to handle additional wastewater from Novo Nordisk. The expansion involves several new technologies including membrane bioreactors new gas upgrade technology and tertiary treatment before discharge.

Novonesis 2030 company strategy includes ambitious sustainability goals. Environmental Operation will play an important role in meeting the goals. We need to re-think the way we treat wastewater and production-biomass to cut CO2 emissions and focus on water saving and resource recovery

In this role youll make an impact by:

• Leading and managing the Wastewater and Biomass treatment Plant to ensure safe efficient and high-quality operations while meeting production targets.

• Fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture by coaching and mentoring team leaders and staff to achieve both collective and individual goals.

• Driving continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization enhancing production efficiency and reducing operational waste.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on site Kalundborg and external stakeholders.

• Ensuring compliance with safety quality and environmental standards and proactively addressing any challenges within the plant.

Main responsibilities will involve setting clear priorities for the operation teams empowering employees through effective leadership and contributing to the sites overall strategic objectives. You will play a key role in the local plant leadership team while also engaging with the broader stakeholders within Novonesis.

To succeed you must:

• Hold Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering or related field

• Have 5 years of leadership experience

• Have effective communication and interpersonal skills

• Be fluent in Danish

• Coaching and supporting team leaders to ensure alignment with strategic goals and their personal growth. Demonstrate strong leadership abilities with a proven ability to motivate and inspire teams toward achieving shared goals.

• Be highly organized and results-driven with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Be able to demonstrate a commitment to safety quality and sustainability ensuring compliance with internal and external standards at all times.

• Adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic environment staying proactive and innovative in addressing new challenges or opportunities.

• Have experience working in cross-functional teams collaborating effectively with departments such as Maintenance Process & Technology and Quality Assurance.
