Position Summary
This position plays a vital role in supporting student success at Duncan Lake Middle School. The primary responsibility is to provide a structured supportive environment for students serving in-school suspension lunch detention or completing assessments in the testing room. The employee will help students remain engaged in their academic work develop positive behavior skills and experience success in school. This role requires a high level of independence professionalism and a strong commitment to building positive student relationships.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide consistent supervision for students who are test-taking or assigned to in-school suspension or lunch detention ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Take accurate daily attendance for students in testing in-school suspension and lunch detention.
- Greet students with positivity and professionalism to help establish a welcoming and respectful space.
- Support students during reflection periods by discussing behavior decision-making and strategies to prevent future issues; collaborate with staff as needed.
- Monitor all in-school suspension assignments and offer students encouragement feedback and appropriate academic support including supervising computer work and test-taking.
- Supervise testing sessions and provide assistance such as reading tests aloud when required.
- Communicate with teachers to request student work in advance and maintain Work Completion Logs for all students assigned to the room.
- Provide clerical support to the main office when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or assistant principal to support overall school operations and student success.
Employment Qualifications
- EDUCATION: This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or Associates degree.
- EXPERIENCE:A minimum of one to three years of progressively more responsible or expansive experience in a public education setting is preferred.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit use hands to finger handle or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
