PURPOSE
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator II - Housing under general supervision assists in the management of the System members environmental health and safety program with specific attention to student housing. The position coordinates within the full spectrum from preventative mitigation to assessment reporting as well as other related activities (ie: training building proctor and after-hours emergency response). The position supports all aspects of a full-service EHS program to ensure a safe healthy and comfortable work environment for employees and visitors. The position adheres to requirements to ensure compliance with applicable Federal State and local regulatory agencies as well as Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies and regulations.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Fire and Life Safety
Percent Effort: 43.55%
Coordinates building inspections reporting and list updates.
Coordinates fire suppression system and boiler inspections reporting and list updates.
Coordinates backflow prevention inspections reporting and list updates.
Supports fire alarm response and fire drills.
Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 2: Construction Safety
Percent Effort: 20.85%
Coordinates project inspections.
Coordinates boiler permitting (new projects).
Coordinates ADA compliance (new projects).
Coordinates NFPA compliance (new projects).
Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 3: Industrial Hygiene
Percent Effort: 4.92%
Calibrates services and maintains industrial hygiene equipment.
Conducts sound level illumination air quality and heat stress monitoring.
Functional Area 4: Housing Area and Event Safety
Percent Effort: 14.09%
Coordinates special safety event inspections.
Coordinates housing area grounds safety inspections.
Monitors golf cart and other vehicle operations across housing area.
Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 5: Animal Control
Percent Effort: 3.78%
Coordinates animal control building inspections and reports
Conducts animal nuisance response.
Supports iCat program.
Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 6: Training

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in environmental health and safety or related discipline
Two (2) years of related experience
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
High school diploma/GED and six (6) years of related experience.
Associates degree in environmental health and safety or related discipline and four (4) years of related experience.
Knowledge of word processing spreadsheets and database applications.
Knowledge of environmental health and safety rules regulations and standards.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure which may include communications systems computer networks and systems cybersecurity systems electrical grid hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
HAZWOPER certification (40 hr General Site Worker).
SALARY Monthly $4166.67 $50000 Annually Approximately
