NQ Dry Tropics is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Grazing Field Officer to join our Sustainable Agriculture team in Townsville. This role works directly with graziers across the Burdekin to support the adoption of sustainable grazing practices that improve land condition productivity and water quality. The successful candidate will deliver extension projects coordinate incentives and provide targeted training in collaboration with our skilled team of extension soil conservation and GIS specialists. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to build strong industry relationships support practical on-ground change and contribute to the long-term resilience of grazing businesses and natural resources in the region.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • develop and maintain functional working relationships with project sponsors partners and educational service providers;
  • plan and manage delivery of subregional projects and training activities with graziers to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and to budget;
  • ensure effective consultation and engagement with the community industry and other key stakeholders;
  • develop and maintain relationships with graziers to promote sustainable land management practices;
  • work with graziers to develop applications for incentive projects and monitor these activities to ensure they are completed within budget to deadline and with all outcomes achieved;
  • provide mentoring and guidance to other team members within the allocated subregional projects to increase their capacity and abilities;
  • monitor evaluate and report on the delivery of subregional project activities against milestones and budgets; and
  • work as a part of an interdisciplinary team and with specialists to contribute to the development and implementation of integrated NRM projects.

Role requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Science Natural Resource Management Environmental Science or equivalent relevant work experience and vocational or industry education or training.
  • C class drivers licence and ability to travel extensively within the Burdekin Dry Tropics region. This will necessitate travel outside standard hours with nights away from home.
  • Current HLTDAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 CPR or the ability to obtain certificates.
  • RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four-wheel drive vehicle or the ability to obtain.
