Description

As a Junior UI/UX Designer you will play a hands-on role in shaping digital experiences that make a real impact. You will collaborate with designers developers and product teams to bring ideas to life from ideation and research to polished interfaces. This role involves creating and refining product designs improving user experiences and contributing to design systems and guidelines.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science Information Technology Visual Communication Design Graphic Design Interaction Design or related fields.
  • 24 years in UI/UX design.
  • Proficiency in UI/UX methodologies and user-centred design principles.
  • Experience with design tools (Figma preferred Adobe Suite).
  • Understanding of HTML CSS JavaScript React.
  • Familiarity with agile environments.
  • Strong MS Office skills.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Solution Roadmap Design & Architecture

  • Contribute to the design and development of intuitive user-centred interfaces.
  • Ensure UI/UX designs align with product strategy and technical architecture.
  • Support the creation of scalable design systems that maintain consistency across platforms.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse user feedback and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Drive innovation by proposing enhancements to design systems and processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices into design work.

Application Support

  • Provide design-related support for applications to ensure usability and consistency.
  • Collaborate with developers to resolve UI/UX issues during implementation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting design-related challenges post-deployment.

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (product development marketing) to deliver cohesive digital experiences.
  • Translate business requirements into effective design solutions.
  • Support senior designers in mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Project Support & Change Management

  • Assist in managing design deliverables for projects within agreed timelines.
  • Adapt designs to accommodate evolving project requirements and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure smooth integration of design changes during project transitions.

Governance Compliance and Security

  • Ensure all designs adhere to organisational standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and security requirements.
  • Document design processes and decisions for audit and governance purposes.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Analysing research to define user problems and insights.
  • Creating user journeys wireframes prototypes and polished interface designs.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture and interaction design.
  • Ability to visualise concepts and iterate based on feedback.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
