BBC News & Current Affairs produces award-winning content across long form documentaries investigations audio podcasts live studio output and outside broadcasts. Programmes include Panorama; BBC2 and BBC3 Current Affairs documentaries; Africa Eye; Newsround; Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg; Newscast; Gangster; Ukrainecast and many many more. As a Junior Production Coordinator apprentice youll work at the heart of busy productions gaining experience across all stages from planning and logistics to post-production and delivery. Youll support both editorial and production management teams helping set up domestic and international content.
This is our entry level position into production management; you will work as a Production Management Assistant supporting our Production Managers and Production Coordinators in creating quality content for all of our output which may include TV audio online events and digital platforms.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
As a Junior Production Coordinator apprentice with News & Current Affairs this is a brilliant opportunity to learn grow and contribute - you may demonstrate the following:
- Assist with travel logistics shoots audio programmes studio setups crew bookings and call sheets
- Support budget management and cost monitoring
- Support staff management and scheduling
- Assist with data and/or media management and production reporting
- Learn best practices in production management and BBC policies and compliance
On successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant Production Secretary or Production Coordinator depending on experience both inside and outside of the BBC.

Youll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualificationlearning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops; tutorial sessions; presentations and group your apprenticeship you will be asked to gather a portfolio of evidence and work on an end point assessment that demonstrates your learning while working towards a Level 4 apprenticeship qualification.
This apprenticeship will give you a thorough knowledge and understanding of what it is like to work in production management and the media industry which you can then utilise during your time at the BBC and afterwards in the wider industry.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC you must:
- Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026
- Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship
- Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
- Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme whether with the BBC or another organisation
- For candidates under the age of 19 years at the start of the apprenticeship you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification. If you have not achieved these qualifications you will be required to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end-point assessment
