The Director of Accounting helps lead the companys accounting operations with a strong focus on improving processes strengthening controls and accelerating the month-end close. This role works closely with the Controller/Treasurer to ensure accurate financial reporting strong liquidity management and well-coordinated accounting activities.
Responsibilities:
1. Month-End and Year-End Close
Coordinate with Controller to manage financial close calendar including deadlines accountability and cross-functional dependencies.
Review journal entries account reconciliations and financial statements.
Partner with the Controller/Treasurer to ensure reporting aligns with financial statement requirements.
Oversee revenue accounting ensuring accurate and timely recognition in accordance with GAAP.
2. Accounting Operations Leadership
Evaluate current workflows and implement process improvements to increase accuracy efficiency and scalability. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
3. Collaboration With Controller/Treasurer
Coordinate with the Controller/Treasurer to align close results cash impacts and reporting needs.
Provide timely accurate data needed for forecasts covenant calculations and compliance reporting.
Align on priorities related to audits system improvements and internal controls.
Serve as backup to the Controller/ Treasurer for certain reporting and governance tasks as appropriate.
4. Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
Play a key role in the cross-functional project to review and redesign a multi-level data reporting hierarchy and a corresponding general ledger structure.
Shorten the close timeline while improving accuracy and control.
Lead automation and system enhancements (ERP AP automation workflow tools).
Establish KPIs to monitor accounting operational performance (close timeline reconciliation completion exception rates).
5. Internal Controls & Audit Readiness
Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes.
Support annual audit lender reviews or board reporting coordinating closely with the Controller/Treasurer.
6. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with FP&A Operations HR and other departments to ensure timely and accurate information flow.
Act as a key accounting point of contact for senior leadership.
Protect the organizations value by keeping information secure and confidential.
Understand and exemplify the practices branding culture mission and vision.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and accounting/financial acumen.
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles financial concepts and corporate finance principles.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear actionable insights for senior leadership.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing Accounting team.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
Self-driven independent thinker.
Private Equity experience preferred.
Healthcare experience is a plus.
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel PowerPoint.
Experience working with and sourcing data from various BI tools.
Experience working with ERP systems. Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience is a plus.
Remote with minimal travel required
