Position Overview
The Director of High School Academics will serve as a leader on the KIPP Nashville Academics Team reporting directly to the Chief Academic Officer. This role will oversee the execution of academic strategy curriculum implementation instructional leadership and school improvement efforts across both KIPP Nashville Collegiate and KIPP Antioch Global High Schools.
The Director of HS Academics will lead the implementation of the One KIPP curriculum initiative and ensure that all academic programming is aligned to Tennessee graduation requirements and KIPP Nashvilles College and Career Readiness vision. This role is ideal for a systems-level thinker with strong attention to detail ability to manage multiple complex projects across a range of stakeholders and a proven ability to drive outcomes at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties of this role include but are not limited to the following:
Assessment & Academic Systems
Own the high school regional academic calendar (including scopes and sequences assessment calendars etc.) grading guidance and quarterly academic deliverables.
Lead school-level data reviews interim analysis and end-of-year academic reflection processes.
Own testing design and implementation for all state and national assessments (e.g. TCAP/EOC ACT AP ASVAB CLEP).
Monitor student performance trends across schools and support action planning to address gaps.
Academic Operations & Compliance
Partner with the Director of Operations and school operations teams on master schedule development transcript review and systems for credit accrual and recovery.
Ensure compliance with all academic documentation grading policies and promotion/retention standards.
Partner with the Director of KIPP Forward for state accountability reporting on College and Career Readiness (CCR) Data.
Curriculum Implementation & Academic Alignment
Lead the implementation of the KIPP Foundations One KIPP ELA and Math curriculum across both high schools ensuring alignment fidelity and impact.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of curriculum adoption through walkthroughs student work analysis and outcome data.
Ensure high school course alignment with Tennessee graduation college entrance dual enrollment and CTE requirements.
Strategic Planning & Regional Alignment
Align school-level academic strategy to regional academic priorities and KIPP Nashvilles strategic plan.
Lead the development of high school academic goals and progress monitoring dashboards in partnership with the Head of High Schools and regional Data team.
Create and execute AP development aligned to regional priorities in partnership with the Head of High Schools
Qualifications :

Experience in instructional leadership curriculum design and data-driven decision-making.
Strong desire to create systems of management and accountability to improve quality while simplifying the work for teachers and school leaders
Knowledge of Tennessee high school academic standards graduation pathways and assessment systems.
Experience implementing and supporting curriculum adoption and teacher professional development.
Excellent communication coaching and project management skills.

Additional Information :
Compensation
Starting Salary is $80-120000 and is based on experience. Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville voluntary medical and dental plans in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. To establish equitable salary practices the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 12-month schedule.
