Under the direction of the Director of Diverse Learning this personplans implements and evaluates services and gifted enrichment for students identified as gifted. Helps students identify goals and make appropriate choices. Encourages parental involvement. The teacher also plans work assignments provides instructions and monitors assigned staff and volunteers.
- Works with the Director of Diverse Learning to refine program goals review criteria for student participation & plans/evaluates programming.
- Researches and prepares program materials for gifted students.
- Collaborates with staff to determine the most effective approach for each student and evaluates the needs of students based on all available information.
- Plans student enrichment by varying instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.
- Teaches scheduled classes documents teaching performance objectives creates effective learning experiences and ensures that lesson plans align with the adopted curriculum.
- Develops and maintains a positive learning environment and stimulates student interest.
- Serves as a liaison to parents and directs parents to supplemental resources within the community
- Provides guidance communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student progress by facilitating critical-thinking problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
- Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time
- Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Evaluates student achievements/performances and assigns grades prepares progress reports and consults with parents/guardians.
- Shares information with teachers about the involvement of their students in the gifted program.
- Prepares and implements Written Education Plan (WEP) or Written Acceleration Plan (WAP) for students meeting eligibility requirements.
- Works collaboratively with the School Psychologist to evaluate students based on referral procedures.
- Complies with state model policies and procedures for the education of students identified as gifted upholds governing board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Valid Ohio teachers license/certificate and endorsement in gifted education (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum of one year of successful full-time gifted teaching experience
- Strong relationship building communication and presentation skills with school age children & parents/guardians. Good interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence.
- Belief that outstanding school leaders staff and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students.
- Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism strong problem solving skills and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
- Willingness and commitment to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students.
- Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous fast-moving environment while driving toward clarity and solutions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
