Position Description
The Xplore Program supports first-year students as they begin building a foundation for intentional learning experiences that can support academic success educational development and long-term career resilience. Through a structured three-week series of workshops scheduled outside of regular course hours students explore their strengths values interests and goals; strengthen reflective practices; and develop tools to help them make informed choices about their curricular and co-curricular learning experiences. Xplore is grounded in a strengths-based growth-oriented approach that encourages students to recognize their capacities build resilience and learn through experience. Anchored in StFXs longstanding commitment to service social justice community-engaged learning and the common good the program helps students begin identifying opportunities they may wish to explore next in their academic and co-curricular journeys. Xplore integrates the core components of career resilience self-knowledge adaptability reflective practice and decision confidence throughout all three weeks of the program.
The program will be delivered over the span of three weeks (January 11 to February 4 2026) with a chance for students to make up any missed sessions in the fourth week. Each week students will complete in-class activities that develop awareness exploration and application of the topic for the week. The schedule: Sunday 3:00pm (x 5) 4:00pm (x 5) 6:00pm 7:00pm (x 5) and 8:00pm (x 5); Tuesday 6:00pm to 7:00pm (x 2); and Wednesday 6:00pm to 7:00pm (x 2).
The Xplore Program Coordinator will take the lead role in executing the communications plan assisting with getting students registered in the Xplore program troubleshooting issues overseeing the 6-7 student facilitators act as a backup facilitator if needed and working collaboratively to ensure smooth delivery of the program once it begins in January. This role is ideal for someone who is organized detail-oriented and enjoys working in a student-focused environment. This role will report to the Acting Director Experiential Learning Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation of promotional materials and sharing communication with all stakeholders.
- Take the lead in overseeing the execution of the communications strategy for the Xplore program (e.g. email reminders updates website updates follow-ups).
- Assist with overseeing the 900 student registration process through LibCal and troubleshooting student registration questions.
- Reviews the programs curriculum & training manual. Provides curriculum and facilitator feedback after Xplore is completed.
- Assist in the development of the Xplore Moodle page.
- Respond to student inquiries and provide general program information.
- Support the student facilitators with in-class setup and administrative needs.
- Maintain program records and assist with data entry when needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Have a post-secondary degree or diploma in business technology education or other related area.
- Two to three years experience in providing career related guidance/support.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office familiar with Moodle and willing to learn LibCal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in an administrative or student services role is an asset.
