Duties And Responsibilities
Primary duties include: Lead and manage a team of finance professionals sustaining an effective high-performing team that provides excellent customer service to client departments. Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work through the team and clear communications with client units providing accurate services in a highly responsive manner. Ensure accounting is compliant with state and federal rules generally accepted accounting principles governmental accounting and financial reporting standards. Research and make judgments and interpretations on policy and compliance questions with support from other team leads and management structure. Ensure the quality of the teams work: auditing reviewing and approving reports corrections invoices payments and other transactions as needed. Develop and lead training sessions for staff amongst the client user groups and provide direct support and training for new hires throughout the client user groups regarding accounting procedures. Develop and maintain thorough documentation of procedures for the team. Develop and maintain knowledge of client units sufficient to understand goals. Service to Clients Provide excellent customer service in accordance with MSUs Service Excellence culture. Provide accurate financial information to client units assisting with questions communications transactions reports policy interpretations etc. as needed.
