Position summary:
The Farm Intelligence Senior Associate is responsible for leading the implementation of Farm Intelligence initiatives in the Asia-Pacific Region. Specifically the Senior Associate will lead the implementation of tools training and capacity building programs aimed to support farmers and farm group management with digital data collection and decision making at group and individual farm level. The Senior Associate will support the Farm Intelligence team in monitoring and evaluating the interventions themselves and analysing and synthesising feedback from farm groups included in the program to continuously drive improvement of Farm Intelligence and other Rainforest Alliance interventions. The Senior Associate will be the ambassador for the program in their respective region and work closely with the local and regional teams to align and support implementation goals.
The scope of the Farm Intelligence team is to lead the execution of Rainforest Alliances Farm Intelligence program to bring to scale farm-level risk and performance data collection for digital farm and group management decision making. We do this as part of RAs producer support interventions through developing and rolling out Farm Intelligence tooling and training to support managers and producers to more effectively collect and analyse farm-level data to enable a continuous improvement at group and farm-level towards sustainability outcomes.
The Farm Intelligence teams flagship tool the Farm Intelligence App (FIA) is a mobile and web-based application that supports the organization of farm data collection and the digitization of farmer profile and internal inspection data. The FIA training program includes use of the tool and building the capacity of both internal inspectors and group managers in the collection and use of the internal inspection data to drive farm-level improvements and efficiencies within the Internal Management System (IMS). The programs current tool and training is centred around active and prospective certificate parallel the Farm Intelligence team is developing new offerings to bring value to farmers outside of the certification portfolio. The Senior Associate position will focus on expanding and improving the adoption of the current offering (80-90%) while also being involved in supporting development of new offerings (20-10%).
Responsibilities:
- Provide training and technical support to group Certificate Holders in implementing the Farm Intelligence App (FIA) specifically farm group IMS managers and internal inspectors in the Asia-Pacific region with (initially) special attention to Indonesia India/Sri Lanka and Vietnam;
- Lead on the implementation of the regional workplan where relevant in close coordination with country Producer Support Customer Care and other RA teams;
- Be the (regional) ambassador for the Farm Intelligence work both internally and externally; pro-actively seek opportunities to further align Farm Intelligence interventions with ongoing and new landscape level or other local/regional initiatives;
- Assist in the preparation of workplans and budgets;
- Supervise and evaluate the implementation and testing of new offerings: disseminate findings across the organization in collaboration with the Farm Intelligence team;
- Support the development of technological business requirements interventions and improvements to the program based on local and regional needs feedback received from implementation partners and external stakeholders; participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new functionalities and tools;
- Coordinate meetings workshops and feedback sessions with FIA users and other internal and external partners;
- Provide timely feedback on implementation to the Farm Intelligence team manager and other team members where relevant to ensure continuous improvement of the tools and systems offered;
- Logistical and administrative support as relevant;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS Degree in agronomy natural resources sustainability or related field and/or equivalent professional qualification;
- 5-7 years of experience in environmental conservation/agricultural field or a Masters degree with 3-5 years experience; preference for candidate with experience in voluntary standard systems and/or working with farmers in the coffee cocoa or tea sector;
- Experience in training and/or coaching farmers and/or farm groups;
- Experience in developing and implementing workplans and related budgets.
- Knowledge of Internal Management Systems (IMS) or cooperative governance is preferred;
- Ability to understand and analyse data in various formats;
- Excellent interpersonal and writing skills with ability to interact culturally linguistically and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals;
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently under pressure;
- Strong attention to detail prioritize tasks and stay focused;
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word PowerPoint and Outlook); advanced proficiency with Excel; familiar with the use of IT tools for mobile data collection and/or various farm management applications;
- Candidates with written and verbal proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia are required;
- Candidates with working experience in APAC countries other than Indonesia are preferred;
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
