Job Title: Business Development Officer
Location: Nairobi Kenya
Reports To: Commercial Director & Chief Operations Officer
Gross Salary: KES 150000 - 200000
Job Purpose:
The Business Development Officer will drive the clients commercial growth by identifying new business opportunities strengthening corporate client relationships and enhancing the firms market visibility. The role requires a commercially focused professional with strong experience in C2B and B2B business development preferably within professional services banking insurance or corporate B2B environments.
The ideal candidate possesses strong strategic thinking hands-on execution capability excellent communication skills and a proven track record of delivering measurable revenue outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned companys growth priorities.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities across multiple sectors.
- Map and segment client bases by industry revenue potential and relationship maturity.
- Develop and execute Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies to position the client as a trusted advisor.
- Track analyze and report on BD initiatives revenue outcomes and opportunity pipelines.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with high-value corporate clients business leaders and decision makers.
- Lead structured client engagement feedback collection and relationship-deepening initiatives.
- Identify and drive upsell and cross-sell opportunities to maximize client lifetime value.
- Engage confidently with CEOs boards legal teams and institutional clients in a consultative manner.
- Drive lead generation and conversion through targeted business development and sales campaigns.
- Coordinate thought leadership initiatives such as client alerts webinars and industry insights.
- Collaborate with communications and design teams to ensure consistent brand expression across all platforms.
- Support visibility initiatives to strengthen companys local and international market presence.
- Lead and coordinate development of pitches proposals and tenders tailored to client needs.
- Conduct thorough research to ensure proposals are strategic evidence-based and compelling.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly BD performance reports client trend analyses and new opportunity summaries.
- Identify and nurture partnerships with professional bodies chambers of commerce and corporate institutions.
- Conduct competitive and market intelligence to anticipate trends and proactively position the company.
- Monitor regulatory economic and industry developments influencing client needs or market opportunities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing Business Administration Commerce or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in business development relationship management or sales within professional services banking insurance or corporate B2B environments.
- Demonstrable track record of revenue growth client acquisition and account expansion.
- Strong understanding of corporate procurement long sales cycles and complex service offerings.
- Proficiency in CRM tools MS Office lead-generation tools and digital marketing platforms.
- Experience preparing pitches proposals tenders and GTM strategies.
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to build strong trust-based relationships at senior and executive levels.
- Highly organized structured and deadline-driven.
- Analytical mindset with strong reporting and data interpretation skills.
- Self-driven proactive and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Professional etiquette and strong executive presence.
