This Associate Director of Scholarships and Academic Support Programs is responsible for managing the support programs in the College of Engineering and for the assessment of such programs and other student success initiatives. The job duties include managing the colleges scholarship assignment process and serving as the college liaison to the University scholarship office overseeing student support programs such as engineering tutoring assessing and reporting on student success initiatives and evaluating trends and practices to improve student success and timely graduation. The incumbent will also provide support to the engineering faculty and to the Deans office on the assessment of academic programs for accreditation. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.
The incumbent should possess strong interpersonal skills and excellent written/oral communication skills to convey information to non-technical audiences. The person must have the ability to work closely and collaboratively with diverse populations of students faculty and staff. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills the ability to manage complex projects on a timeline and demonstrated ability to work independently. The candidate must have knowledge and skills in using computer scheduling and planning and administrative software packages. Experience working with faculty and administrators is also highly desired.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
REQUIRED: Equivalent to a bachelors degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance human relations or related fields and four years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
PREFERRED:
Masters or higher degree in a related field. Knowledge of assessment methods. Knowledge of accreditation procedures and requirements and experience using data analysis software. Valid CA Drivers License preferred.
Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).
