The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Finance IT Administration and Member Services the Bookkeeper is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records and supporting financial reporting.

What youll do

Responsibilities

Prepaids

  • Review entries in the prepaids GL and ensure spreadsheet is accurate and up to date each month. Keep back up file updated for year-end audit.

Capital Assets

  • Keep capital asset spreadsheet updated.
  • Ensure backup file is prepped for audit.

Financial Reporting and Year-End

  • Assist with month-end and year-end reporting and audit preparation.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies.

Bank Reconciliations

  • Ensure bank reconciliations are completed in a timely manner.

HST

  • Prepare HST and related support for review.

Journal Entries

  • Prepare monthly journal entries for approval.
  • Post approved journal entries.

Other

  • GL Reconciliations.
  • Other finance related special projects as required.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Physical Environment

  • Typically located in a comfortable office environment.
  • 70 hours bi-weekly Monday to Friday.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree / Diploma in accounting from a recognized institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years in a related accounting role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in accounting/bookkeeping software.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and databases.
