Summary: The Associate Director in the Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry and Service works with the Director in offering well rounded formation programs for those serving and/or discerning to serve as lay ministers in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Associate Director oversees daily activities of various formation programs: Parish Ministry Formation Lay Ecclesial Ministry Formation Acolyte & Lector Formation and Catholic School Teacher Formation. The Associate Director is a key member of a team that promotes a culture of formation (human academic pastoral and spiritual) among the laity while fomenting its value among the clergy. This team member accompanies participants at all levels of their formation journey. The Associate Director performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission vision and values of MACC as well as those of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Position Responsibilities:
- Works with the Director in the implementation and assessment of the Institutes formation programs.
- Under the direction of the Director serves as a contact advocate and consultant for these programs as well as for specific inquiries for pastors pastoral leaders individuals and for parishes of the Archdiocese of San Antonio and other dioceses.
- Works with the Institute Director and relevant offices at MACC in the development implementation and assessment of distance learning strategies.
- Collaborates with the Archdiocese of San Antonios Department of Catholic Schools for the offering of course requirements for TCCB-ED teacher equivalencies and is familiar with local and national programming for lay ministers.
- Assists the Director in collaboration with other MACC staff in the content curriculum design and evaluation for all formation processes.
- Accompanies program participants in their formation journey and serves as Formation Advisor.
- Works in collaboration with the respective offices at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center and MACC in the promotion of events throughout the year related to these formation program.
- Extensively works in the recruitment of lay leaders primarily from the Archdiocese of San Antonio for the various formation programs by doing parish visits mail campaigns telephone calls social media marketing etc.
- Assists in producing marketing material as needed by coordinating writing editing and distributing content including publications press releases website content and other marketing material that communicates the Institutes activities and services.
- Collect analyze and report audience feedback regarding programming.
- Leads efforts in the retention of participants for the various formation programs.
- Identifies trends in lay formation and provides suggestions for strategic planning.
- Recommends to Director opportunities for the on-going formation for participants through appropriate means such as trainings retreats evenings of prayers workshops conferences courses etc.
- Builds relationships with clergy and lay pastoral leaders to foster an understanding of the Institutes formation offerings.
- Participates in facilitates or presents at staff meetings deanery/parish meetings and other meetings as assigned by the Director.
- Participates in required professional in-services retreats or other events sponsored by the Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry or MACC.
- Some supervisory responsibilities of support staff and other collaborators. May be requested to supervise office in absence of Director.
- May assist the Director in promoting some programs of the Institute in the Southwest region especially with dioceses in Region X of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to parishioners and students names and information services rendered to parishioners and students donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.
- Adherence to the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Theology Religious Studies Pastoral Ministry or related field and work experience in parish formation management school or non-profit than can be applied to ministerial formation.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in parish school or diocesan ministry with at least three (3) years of experience in program design and implementation and/or related pastoral experience.
- High-level of experience in administration of formation programs/processes for the laity
- Teaching experience and knowledge of school processes is preferred.
- Diocesan Pastoral Center or parish experience is preferred.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish;
Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church;
Thorough knowledge of the Catholic Church Magisterium;
Must have a working knowledge of formation or school processes adult learning principles and methods and leadership development with experience in assessing training needs to include technologies and processes related to online teaching and learning;
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments in an effective manner;
Must have great analytical and trouble shooting skills;
Strong interpersonal skills are needed for an effective pastoral de conjunto both in person and by phone with a high degree of professionalism;
Ability to accomplish projects with attention to detail and little supervision;
Committed to a high service level standard where high expectations for quality are required
Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office Applications;
Must be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team;
Must have good written and verbal skills;
Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes 95% local and 5% overnight.
