Position: Lead Engineer II Gearing Specialist
Location: Pontiac MI (Onsite)
Salary: $90000 $140000 (Full Time)

The Opportunity
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer II Gears to join their team. This role will focus on preventing scrap reducing scheduling impacts implementing changes and supporting the training and development of new employees to ensure peak project performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot Oerlikon G Series Gear Grinders
- Program and troubleshoot Kapp VX Series Gear Grinders
- Support hypoid and spiral bevel gear design development using KIMoS
- Program and troubleshoot Klingelnberg P Series Inspection Machines
- Document and complete PPAP for newly developed gearing products
- Perform Roll Test Shaper programming and troubleshooting
- Create PFMEA and DFMEA
- Work with KISSsoft and KIMoS for programming and evaluation
- Develop detailed work instructions and setup documents for all gear manufacturing processes
- Analyze gear distortion data and provide machining tolerance recommendations (pre/post heat treat)
- Mentor Cell Specialists and engineering personnel in all aspects of gear manufacturing
- Perform routine equipment and machine maintenance
- Maintain a clean organized cellular manufacturing area
- Ensure continuous flow of materials and parts through the cell
- Adhere to all safety regulations
- Support training and development of Cellular Manufacturing Associates
- Contribute to scrap reduction and throughput improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
- 10 years of experience in gear design and manufacturing
- Required experience with:
- Oerlikon G Series Gear Grinders
- Kapp Niles VX Series Gear Grinders
- Klingelnberg P Series Inspection Machines
- Gear shaping hobbing and skiving
- Bevel and spur gear roll testing machines (Gleason preferred)
- KiMOS and KISSsoft for gear design/evaluation
- Strong fundamentals in PFMEA/DFMEA creation
- Experience with carburized and nitrided steel and post case-hardening processes
- Physical requirements:
- Lift 50 lbs (4 to 25)
- Push/pull 60 lbs
- Grip strength of at least 50 lbs
- Reach above shoulder height (65)
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
