The Safety Training Coordinator (Management Analyst 5) serves as the agencys lead expert for the development production and maintenance of enterprise safety training programs and provides expert level research and analysis of agency-wide safety and health incident data and trends to management staff and internal/external customers.

In this role youll support the accomplishment of the following goals:

  • Building and nurturing a positive culture of safety across the agency.
  • Reducing the number of work-related illnesses and injuries at L&I.
  • Working collaboratively with the Internal Safety and Health (ISH) and Region Safety teams.
  • Engaging with customers throughout the agency to build trusting relationships.


Duties

Some of what youll do:


  • As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) of incident management software applications utilizes the agencys Safety & Health Incident Reporting and Tracking System (SHIRTS) to extract incident and injury data to create comprehensive safety reports to help leadership understand incident types causes and trends.
  • Evaluate safety trends and formulate effective preventative measures to reduce incidents and injuries.
  • Develop complex safety dashboards and reports that organize and display performance measures milestones and the successes of preventative measures which are used to present data to management and leadership.
  • Create and manage SharePoint sites (Accident Prevention Program (APP) Internal Safety & Health Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Power BI).
  • Manage interfaces to simplify and standardize employee interactions (SHIRTS Decision Tree and Public SharePoint).
  • Use software and tools to conduct research gap analysis and Identify trends in safety incidents to provide opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
  • Produce or oversee the production of complex reports for use by all divisions including highest levels of management.
  • Manage the agencys safety and health e-Learning coursework program (TLC) to ensure compliance with or exceed applicable state and federal standards.
  • Develop eLearning and instructor led safety training content and training materials and incorporate updates into existing training programs.
  • Manage electronic APP documents change requests and audit processes.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelors Degree in business or public administration Occupational Safety and Health Training & Development Adult Education or a related field and (5) five years of work experience in duties related to:

  1. Safety & Health program administration
  2. conducting complex research
  3. analyzing policies laws rules or regulations
  4. conducting business analysis and developing requirements
  5. leading business projects
  6. managing business operations
  7. business policy development


OR a combination of education and experience for a total of 9 years relevant to the above qualifications.


In addition:

  • Advanced level proficiency working with computer programs including Microsoft Word Excel PPT Outlook and Power BI.
  • Ability to efficiently navigate software platforms such as learning management systems and incident tracking systems.
  • Database management experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience developing eLearning and working with learning management system programs.

For this position telework is permitted 2 days per week during first 6 months. After that telework 3 days per week if on a 4 10s schedule or 4 days per week if on a 5 8s schedule. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater Washington.


For positions where in-office work is necessary the frequency of telework will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.
