Job Summary The Senior Medical Assistant will provide general patient care in a physician office setting. The Senior Medical Assistant will complete tasks as directed by physician and office manager to ensure seamless operation. Job Requirements Minimum Education Two years of college Required Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Minimum Work Experience Required - 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Demonstrated phlebotomy experience. Preferred - 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse. Six months of phlebotomy skills to include blood draws is preferred. Essential Functions Under the supervision of physician or nurse assists with performing patient assessments and treatments. Participates in quality and performance improvement activities as assigned. Monitors employees for compliance to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Consults with supervisor when non-compliance is observed. Maintains open communication with co-workers and uses appropriate chain of command regarding issues. Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given. Administers injections vaccines and medications and other related tasks as instructed by physician. Requests obtains and reviews all records test and lab results at least one day prior to the visit. Maintains equipment and medical supplies including reordering stocking cleaning and troubleshooting. Maintains the cleanliness of the examination areas. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Retrieves and returns telephone calls to patients in a timely manner and relay information provided by physician.
