Job Summary

**Position Overview: Medical Director Correctional Health Services**

We are in search of a highly experienced Medical Director to lead comprehensive medical operations within a correctional healthcare program located in Dallas Texas. This senior leadership position is pivotal in shaping high-quality patient-centric healthcare delivery in a complex correctional setting necessitating collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across behavioral health primary care specialty services and hospital systems aimed at enhancing health outcomes for an underserved population.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Medical Services Oversight:** Direct and coordinate all medical operations within Correctional Health Services ensuring integrated and effective patient care. -

**Interdisciplinary Collaboration:** Work closely with the Medical Director of Behavioral Health to foster integrated care models. -

**Clinical Governance:** Provide clinical oversight in womens and adult health utilizing established medical protocols and addressing quality improvement initiatives. -

**Adaptive Communication:** Modify care strategies to accommodate sensory impairments and specific patient demographics particularly older adults. -

**Stakeholder Engagement:** Maintain productive relationships with the Sheriffs Department and collaborate with leadership vendors hospitals patients and families. -

**Strategic Development:** Offer strategic input in crafting revising and monitoring annual objectives for Correctional Health Services. -

**Team Leadership:** Recruit train nurture supervise and assess the performance of provider and physician staff to optimize service quality. -

**Supervision of Advanced Practice Providers:** Act as a supervising physician and offer consultation to nursing leadership. -

**Educational Role:** Deliver medical education and training for residents students and advanced practice providers.

**Regulatory Compliance:** Stay abreast of rules regulations laws and guidelines pertinent to Correctional Health operations assisting in the formulation and execution of medical-related policies for clinical staff.

- **Quality Improvement Oversight:** Supervise the Associate Director of Performance Improvement and manage correctional health quality management programs.

**Operational Efficiency:** Assess job designs workflows and processes to implement measurable improvements in departmental efficacy and efficiency.

**Physician Recruitment and Retention:** Lead initiatives to attract and retain medical providers within Correctional Health.

**Integration of Medical Advancements:** Incorporate current medical advancements and research findings into clinical practice.

**Patient-Centric Care Model:** Exemplify a patient-centered approach to physician practice focusing on effective communication respect and clear patient education regarding care plans.

**Accountabilities:**

- **Operational Improvement:** Identify and analyze system workflows and job designs implementing optimizations to enhance departmental effectiveness. -

**Continuous Professional Development:** Remain updated on medical trends and advancements through ongoing education professional memberships and active licensing. -

**Regulatory Knowledge:** Maintain compliance with laws accreditation and health plan guidelines relevant to correctional healthcare. -

**Budget Management:** Formulate and oversee departmental budgets to ensure resources align with strategic goals.

**Human Resource Management:** Oversee the hiring training scheduling and evaluation of staff including making recommendations for disciplinary actions as necessary.

**Opportunities for Development:** Ensure staff access to professional advancement and continued education opportunities.

**Qualifications:**

- Completion of ACGME or AMA-accredited residency program.

- Board Eligible/Board Certified in the relevant specialty.

- Minimum of 5 years in management roles within clinical medicine programs.

- Prior experience in correctional health environments preferred.

- Active Texas Medical License or willingness to obtain one within 180 days.

- Capacity to provide at least one professional reference from the past 24 months.

- Demonstrated strong leadership communication and collaboration skills among physicians.

- Clean malpractice and licensing history.- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

- Proven ability to recruit develop and inspire medical teams.

- Experience in multidisciplinary healthcare settings.

- Recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days).

**Certification Requirements:**

- Board Certification

- State License Requirements: Valid Texas Medical License
