Job Title: Head Materials / Procurement

Location: Dhenkanal Odisha.

Experience: 20Years of experience in Heading Procurement Department in large steel industry (Alloy

steel preferred)

Department: Procurement

Reports To: This position reports to CEO

Education: Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgy passed out from reputed College / Institute (IIT / NIT /Govt. College)

Position Summary:

In the steel industry Procurement Heads play crucial roles in the entire operation & production process. Responsible for strategically managing all Purchasing activity (Raw material MRO Consumables etc) supplies & service for the business. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong background and understanding of the steel industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-efficiency and value for all goods and services required by the plant.
• Supplier Management: Build maintain and leverage strategic relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Evaluate vendor performance capacity and reliability and manage disputes.
• Capex procurement: Sourcing negotiating and managing purchase of machinery & equipment within agreed terms e.g. time line cost quality etc.
• Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts for favorable terms conditions pricing and delivery schedules.
• Cost and Risk Management: Conduct cost analyses set benchmarks and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements. Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses from shortages.
• Team Leadership: Manage mentor and oversee the daily activities of the procurement team.
• Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies business ethics and safety requirements.
• Operational Support: Collaborate with other departments (like production logistics and finance) to ensure the smooth flow of goods and services and to align procurement with plant objectives.

Key requirements:

• Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the steel and raw materials market including consumption patterns and market trends.
• Steel Process Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of the steelmaking process is crucial.
• Experience: Proven experience in large-scale procurement preferably in the steel or heavy industry sector.
• Skills: Strong negotiation Commercial & financial acumen and excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
• Logistics: Ability to coordinate logistics including tracking lead times and ensuring timely delivery.
• Hands with SAP MS (MS Word Power Point Excel)

Decision Making:

• Provide Technical recommendations of all kinds of Raw materials Spares & Consumables.
• Selection & Authorization of Contractors Vendors & Suppliers
• Daily Production and inspection Planning
• Process Changes for Rolling Mill & Finishing Shop functions.
• Planned Shut down for preventive Maintenance.

Authority for recommendations:

• Capex and OPEX for Rolling mill & Finishing shop.
• Department Targets for overall Business Plan
