About the role

The coordinator will oversee specialised family and domestic violence service delivery and the staff to provide leadership to support staff in delivering specialist family violence risk assessments and responses to victims of family and domestic violence support within the CRARMF framework provide holistic culturally safe client led planning across a range of areas including safety independence well-being housing social inclusion and employment as well as coordinate and work collaboratively with a range of services and stakeholders to support women and children reach their goals.

The coordinator will also establish and maintain positive relationships with the key stakeholders and partner agencies relevant to the Services to ensure a co-ordinated effective culturally safe and timely response to women children and families promote an understanding of power and gender as determinants of family violence and the impacts on children and young people. This includes prioritising the physical emotional and psychological needs of children ensure the receipt and provision of referrals and links to ensure culturally sensitive support ensure the roster is created and maintained including coverage on all shifts is compliant with the applicable industrial instrument and operating within budget and provide supervision and support to Case Managers and Family Support Workers to ensure high quality service provision.


This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity based in Port Hedland within our Pilbara Services Program. The position reports to the General Manager Pilbara.


Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role the incumbent will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families.
  • A relevant qualification or a related discipline with substantial experience is preferred. Alternatively combination of equivalent level of study and experience including Aboriginal people with lived and professional experience will be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others and exercise leadership and influence in a diversity of contexts.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers staff and other stakeholders as well as initiative effective personal judgement when working alone.
  • Experience in case management with an understanding of contemporary Family and Domestic Violence frameworks and models including assessing and responding to risk.
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and vulnerability in women and children who have experienced Family violence.
