Based at Murdoch Universitys South Street campus in the School of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS).

Our school includes expert teams in politics international relations public policy global security human rights Asian cultures and societies Japanese and Indonesian languages sociology sustainability sustainable development aid and development community development history philosophy English and creative writing theatre tourism and events.

Your New Role!

We are seeking applications for five academic positions: one Associate Lecturer in Humanities Arts & Social Sciences; one Associate Professor in Humanities Arts & Social Sciences; and three Lecturer or Senior Lecturer roles in Sustainable Development.

  • Associate Lecturer in Humanities Arts & Social Sciences Develop your expertise in teaching and research with increasing autonomy. Working under the guidance of senior staff you will contribute to the disciplines teaching engage in scholarly and professional activities and participate in administrative and service functions within the College and across the University. This is a full-time position.

  • Associate Professor in Humanities Arts & Social Sciences - This role requires a proven record of research engagement and teaching excellence. You will lead impactful research contribute significantly to teaching across the School and College supervise postgraduate students and foster strong industry and stakeholder partnerships. You will also play an active role in academic leadership and governance helping to shape the future of our academic community. This is a full-time position

  • Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Development - Lecturer (Level B): Coordinate and deliver units in areas such as systems thinking regional resilience and sustainability economics while building industry relationships. Senior Lecturer (Level C): Make a substantial contribution to teaching and supervision develop a strong research profile with potential to attract external funding and engage in leadership and professional activities. The positions in Sustainable Development may be offered at a level B or C and on a full time or fractional basis.

Each position attracts a competitive remuneration plus 17% employer superannuation contributions as follows:

  • Associate Lecturer Humanities Arts & Social Sciences
    Fixed-term (2 years) full-time (37.5hours per week) $78K $105K (pro rata)

  • Associate Professor Humanities Arts & Social Sciences
    Continuous full-time (37.5 hours per week) $162K $179K (pro rata)

  • Lecturer Sustainable Development
    Continuous full-time (37.5 hours per week) $111K $131K (pro rata)

  • Senior Lecturer Sustainable Development Continuous full-time (37.5 hours per week) $135K $156K (pro rata)

What youll bring to the role:

  • PhD in a discipline relevant to Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) or Sustainability.

  • Outstanding communication skills including verbal written and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving time management and collaboration skills.

  • Proven experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to supervising honours postgraduate and HDR students successfully.

  • A positive growth mindset and commitment to engagement
