We are seeking a motivated intern to support research and analysis on Scope 3 Category 11 (Use of Sold Products) decarbonization strategies. This role will explore how emerging technologies (such as CCUS retrofits) evolving policy frameworks and improved emissions accounting methodologies can enable GE Vernovas long-term Net Zero 2050 commitments.
The intern will work cross-functionally with teams in sustainability policy product development and carbon accounting to develop insights that inform both strategic planning and methodology evolution in alignment with standards such as the GHG Protocol and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Internship Outcomes
A comprehensive research report summarizing:
1. Key global Category 11 decarbonization strategies that GE Vernova can explore to support our Net Zero goals.
2. Policy and market mechanisms relevant to CCUS and insetting.
3. Gaps and opportunities in emissions accounting methodologies.
4. Clear recommendations for GE Vernovas Category 11 decarbonization framework and future engagement with standard-setting bodies (GHG Protocol SBTi ISO etc.).
5. Contribution to internal knowledge base on long-term Net Zero alignment.
Primary Skilled Developed
1. Expertise in Scope 3 carbon accounting and product life-cycle analysis (LCA).
2. Decarbonization solutions and technologies for Scope 3 especially Category 11.
3. Understanding of CCUS and low-carbon technology policy.
4. Knowledge of international climate frameworks (Paris Agreement Article 6 SBTi).
5. Research synthesis policy analysis and technical writing.
6. Exposure to corporate sustainability strategy and carbon market design.
Basic Qualifications
Pursuing an undergraduate degree in environmental industrial mechanical or chemical engineering background with coursework or project experience in life cycle assessment (LCA) sustainability supply chain decarbonization or GHG accounting.
Current GPA of 4.0/5.0.
Other Eligibility Requirements
Ability to work in the US without company sponsorship either now or in the future.

Strong analytical and research skills; ability to interpret policy and technical guidance.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex findings clearly.
Proficient in Excel PowerPoint and data synthesis tools.
Familiarity with GHG Protocol ISO 14067 and life-cycle assessment principles.
Understanding of energy systems carbon capture technologies or carbon markets a plus.

The pay for this position ranges from $27-31/hr. based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.
