The Warehouse Mechanical Engineering Internship provides hands-on experience supporting facility layout design equipment placement and operational optimization within a warehouse environment. This role will work closely with the Facilities Manager and Operations Team to verify update and maintain accurate facility and work cell layouts using AutoCAD. The internship offers practical exposure to mechanical engineering concepts applied to real-world warehouse operations and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and update existing facility and work cell layouts in AutoCAD to ensure accuracy and alignment with current warehouse operations.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Manager and Operations Team to review equipment placement work cell configurations and space utilization.
- Conduct physical walkthroughs of the warehouse to validate layouts measurements and equipment locations against existing drawings.
- Assist with documenting layout changes revisions and version control for facility drawings.
- Support facility planning initiatives related to equipment moves process changes and space optimization.
- Assist with data collection related to space utilization workflow and material flow to support layout improvements.
- Maintain organized digital files and documentation for facility layouts and engineering records.
- Provide general engineering and administrative support to the Facilities and Operations teams as needed.
Qualifications :
- Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related area of study with foundational understanding of mechanical and facility design principles.
- AutoCAD Proficiency: Experience or coursework using AutoCAD with the ability to review update and create facility and layout drawings.
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy when verifying measurements layouts and documentation.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify layout inefficiencies and support practical solutions in a warehouse environment.
- Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering facilities and operations teams.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage drawings documentation and multiple tasks simultaneously.
