About Company: Our client is a leading Civil Engineering and Construction firm in Nigeria.
Job Purpose: The HSE Lead would be responsible for ensuring workplace safety in accordance with Environment Health and Safety statutory requirements. S/he will conduct regular safety briefings in areas of safety to include first aid CPR accident prevention and investigation workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures.
Key responsibilities:
Take responsibility for ensuring safety on site develop strategies that drive performance and support continuous improvement.
Monitor compliance with HSE standards on the project site and base office conduct scheduled site safety inspections follow-up actions and inspections to determine compliance.
Induct new employees.
Liaise with governmental organizations and regulatory agencies on matters relating to Health Safety and Environment
Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification and preventive action
Manage the first aid and medical emergency service needs
Conduct and present monthly safety findings
Develop HSE documents for the bidding process.
Implement risk assessment and controls on base and site activities
Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization;
Act as liaison with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies;
Conduct regular safety training and briefing on site in areas of safety including first aid CPR accident prevention and investigation workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures.
Maintain open communication with management
Responsible for the operation of the Environmental and Social Management System
Engage in continuous education and staff development
Responsible for contributing to the HSE department in a professional manner which seeks to ensure that it is effective and commands a high standard of respect both internally and externally.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in engineering or biology or chemistry or occupational health safety or related field
Should possess Excellent Interpersonal Communication problem-solving Solving and Conflict Resolution skills
HSE experience of not less than 5 years required; Oil and Gas experience is an added advantage
Advanced Medical or HSE certification is a mandatory requirement.
Must be computer-literate and very knowledgeable in Microsoft packages
