The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is seeking a transformative leader for the newly created position of Director/ Associate Director (Advancement Intelligence). This is a unique opportunity to lead DAAOs strategic operations and innovation agenda shaping the data-driven culture and future of philanthropy as well as alumni engagement at HKU.
Reporting to the Director of the Development & Alumni Affairs Office the appointee will be the strategic architect of the operational engine that underpins the entire office. The appointee will provide leadership for a broad portfolio supporting the Universitys fundraising and alumni engagement efforts which includes our technical infrastructure for advancement and the new AI and Data Analytics Lab in DAAO to provide analytical support for fundraising and engagement.
The Role
As a core member of the DAAOs senior leadership team the appointee will serve as the strategic head of advancement services and innovation. The central mission is to ensure the frontline fundraising and engagement officers equipped with the best possible data tools and insights to achieve their goals. These are the key responsibilities:

Requirements
We are seeking a leader who blends deep technical expertise with strategic vision and a collaborative spirit.
Educational Background: An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science Statistics Engineering Economics or a related field is highly desirable although not mandatory.
Professional Experience: Significant progressive experience in a management role (at least 10 years) within data science business intelligence or a related analytical field. Experience in a data-intensive industry (e.g. finance e-commerce tech consulting) is highly valued. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Registrar and those with less experience will be considered with the title of Associate Director (Advancement Intelligence).
Technical Acumen: Strong and practical understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application to business problems coupled with a proven track record of leading analytics teams and working with data ecosystems.
Strategic Thinker & Pragmatic Builder: Talent for applying rigorous methods to solve practical problems. The appointee may come from a research-intensive background (academic or corporate) and excel at translating complex ideas into applied solutions and communicating them to non-technical audiences.
Leadership Qualities: Service-oriented leader a natural collaborator with excellent communication skills in English and Chinese. While direct fundraising experience is not required a genuine passion for the mission of higher education is essential.

The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
