Hybrid:Our physical office is in Olympia WA. We offer flexible work schedules and locations. This is a hybrid position where most of the work allows teleworking. However you must travel to in-person activities meetings and events as needed for business purposes.

The job opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support and enhance statewide enterprise reporting platforms that connect critical statewide applications and deliver financial data to agencies across Washington. This role administers and maintains reporting technologies including SAP Business Objects Power BI and Microsoft Analysis Services and provides essential operational support for business intelligence analytics and financial reporting services. The position leads the architecture development and deployment of SAP Business Objects Universes and platform environments with authority over production control decisions for the statewide SAP reporting platform. Additionally the role involves collaborating with architects and supporting other enterprise BI solutions while working closely with the OFM Data Management team to create maintain and promote statewide data and reporting standards. Serving as a platform administrator and consultant for Statewide Financial Systems the incumbent gathers business and technical requirements and develops reporting and analytics solutions for systems such as AFRS HRMS CIM and budget applications used by 120 state agencies and thousands of users supporting mission-critical services that directly impact Washington residents.

Duties

What you will work on

  • Responsible for the operational support/maintenance for SAP Business Objects business intelligence suite that serves 120 state Agencies supporting statewide financial applications data delivery. Technical experience and familiarity with the SAP Business Objects suite to make informed technical decisions.
  • Troubleshot outages and conduct root-cause analysis across multiple platforms and coordinate activities across multiple teams to resolve outages.
  • Provide technical knowledge for an enterprise-wide reporting platform.
  • Support ongoing installations upgrades maintenance and support of the agencys enterprise reporting platform solutions.
  • Architect reporting platforms and implements changes as necessary to align towards service goals (Service Level Agreements SLAs) and direction.
  • Maintain Business Objects Platform identify bugs in code and provide temporary workarounds and permanent solutions. Work with vendors on support issues.
  • Provide input and architectural guidance to ensure the Business Objects environment is resilient and available to OFM customer agencies during expected SLA hours.
  • Diagnose and resolve platform performance issues.
  • Coordinate architect plan and execute software upgrades in support of OFM Data Management supported Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms.
  • Assemble analyze and document technical specifications for enterprise solutions.
  • Proactively monitor production data exchanges for performance and capacity to ensure timely delivery of messages and data.
  • Design and development of Business Object Universes (semantic data model) solutions for statewide data systems.
  • Utilize knowledge and is trusted by management to independently deliver the highest-level technical BI/Analytics platform solutions to high-risk high-profile statewide initiatives that fundamentally impact statewide accounting and financial Systems data.
  • Coordinate with Server Network and Platform vendor teams to install/deploy configure and monitor the OFM business intelligence platforms.
  • Design a robust platform as work performed directly impacts the availability and accuracy of the states financial accounting state payroll general ledger and enterprise budgeting systems data.
  • Provide technical consulting to other teams divisions or projects on an ad-hoc basis using technical knowledge of how the state systems interact and knowledge of the technical frameworks underpinning them. Consult with other teams on technical issues related to Business Intelligence platforms.
  • Work with Server and Network teams to install/deploy configure and monitor the OFM reporting platforms
  • Monitor services that support the Enterprise Reporting infrastructure.

Qualifications

What we need you to bring
Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated mastery of SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) and enterprise BI platforms including environment design configuration administration and optimization across multi-agency or large-scale deployments.
  • Proven ability to architect and manage clustered BI environments including server deployment performance tuning environment management (Dev/QA/Prod) and implementation of high availability load balancing and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL relational database design and development of complex queries stored procedures and data models. Experience integrating BI platforms with major enterprise data sources (e.g. SQL Server Oracle Snowflake) and supporting ETL and large-scale data movement.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve platform application and server issues with a track record of maintaining high system uptime and meeting defined SLA targets through proactive monitoring and tuning.
  • In-depth knowledge of data security practices identity and access management and adherence to OCIO/CISO or comparable security standards. Skilled in designing and enforcing BI platform governance permissions and compliance controls.
  • Experience in planning and executing system upgrades patches migrations and releases using structured change management processes. Competent in producing technical documentation including architecture diagrams configuration details DR plans and operational procedures.
  • Proven capability to create maintain and optimize semantic layer universes and Web Intelligence reports to meet enterprise reporting and analytics needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with server network database and application teams. Serves as a technical advisor and subject matter expert for BI strategy governance and implementation. Strong analytical and communication skills for requirements gathering and translation into technical designs.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or equivalent frameworks. Demonstrated proficiency in risk assessment change control and managing multiple concurrent initiatives within complex technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of statewide enterprise systems (financial payroll budgeting) and their integration with BI platforms. Able to make independent high-impact decisions in a 24/7 mission-critical environment including on-call/standby support.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related area (Mathematics Engineering Data and Business Intelligence Design) *Experience may substitute on a year-to-year basis.

Eight (8) years of experience:

  • Server administration SAP Business Objects BI platform Business Intelligence platform support.
  • Supporting a large enterprise platform with on-call support of technical infrastructure troubleshooting at a technical advanced level.
  • Designing and developing a large enterprise-scale business intelligence platform analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Supporting business analytics dashboard ad-hoc and custom reporting environments.
  • Conducting detailed data analysis between disparate applications and data warehouse environments for developing platform architecture diagrams and project-related documentation in support of complex reporting and data visualization initiatives.
