James Madison Universitys (JMU) Educate Equip and Empower (E3) Training Academy is accepting applications for a Training and Impact Coordinator to support the program. The E3 Training Academy aims to cross-train masters level scholars in special education applied behavior analysis and adapted physical education to ensure students with high-intensity needs thrive in all educational and community-based experiences. Scholars will demonstrate competency in creating school and community-based programs assessing all learning domains developing individualized plans teaching using evidence-based practices (EBPs) and evaluating instructional effectiveness (PAPTE). The Academy is a collaborative effort with city and county school divisions JMUs Empowerment3 Center members of the Shenandoah Valley Inclusive Wellness Coalition key stakeholders including students with intellectual & developmental disabilities and caregivers.
Project Aims (across the five-year span of the project)
1. Recruit mentor retain and graduate at least 20 highly qualified (HQ) OSEP scholars across special education applied behavior analysis and adapted physical education.
2. Provide teaching and mentorship opportunities for OSEP scholars to gain competency working with students with disabilities who have high intensity needs.
3. Implement the Achievement Based Curriculum model by infusing evidence-based practices into courses apprenticeship interdisciplinary learning series mentorship research and PD opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Training and Supervision of E3 Academy Scholars
- Assist Project Directors with recruitment of E3 scholars their sites and mentors
-Provide Direct Supervision and Support of E3 Scholars
- Communicate with each scholars mentor teacher(s) related service provider(s) and
parent/caregiver(s)
- Teach or Co-teach Kinesiology or Special Education Courses
Leading Interdisciplinary Learning Community (ILC)
- Present topics in Transdisciplinary Education and Service Implementation
- Organizing the presenters and case studies for the Interdisciplinary Learning Community
(ILC)
- Recruit teachers parents and service providers to join our ILC
- Determine impact measures of ILC
Mentorship of Graduate Scholars
- Engage in weekly mentorship learning activities & discussions with E3 scholars
- Evaluate the value and impact of mentorship from other assigned mentors
Action-Based and Interdisciplinary Research
- Finalize impact measures - scholars educators and students with high-intensity disabilities
- Responsible for data collection cleaning and analysis
- Engage in scholarship activities with project directors submit reports research posters
and manuscripts
- Present Academys scholarship efforts at professional conferences
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-Strong knowledge of educational and related services fields
-Strong foundational knowledge on interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary education program development and implementation
-Strong foundational knowledge on the Achievement Based Curriculum Model Program Planning Assessment Prescription/Lesson Planning Teaching and Evaluation
-Strong knowledge base of K-12 students with high Intensity Needs
-Demonstrated high quality communication and team building skills
-Ability to demonstrate high quality mentorship skills promoting continued professional growth
-Strong research and evaluation skills
-Ability to work collaboratively with E3 Training Academy staff and scholars K-12 educators service providers and parent/caregiver mentors
-Ability to provide mentorship and support to E3 Academy Scholars
-Ability to conduct action-based research

E3 Training Academy is grounded in the Achievement-Based Curriculum model informed by its five guiding PAPTE principles derived from persons with lived experience parents and families in-service professionals and current research. By the end of the Training Academy scholars have the knowledge & skills to conduct high-quality planning (creating school and community-based programs) assess (all learning domains) develop individualized plans teach using evidence-based practices and evaluate their instructional effectiveness.
