Your role

We are looking for someone rigorous creative and resourceful to elevate the journalistic content published across Radio-Canada OttawaGatineaus digital platforms.

You will play an active role in our digital video strategy while also contributing to general news coverage in the National Capital Region.

You will develop infographics and special formats for our content while ensuring quality control for all web production.

You understand that success on the web and on social media depends on mastering the specific codes of these platforms.

You have strong writing skills and know how to connect with a variety of audiences from all backgrounds.

You are well-versed in CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices and you understand the importance of delivering accurate and relevant information.

Your responsibilities:

  • Contribute daily to producing and publishing the Vidéojournal as well as other digital videos created by the station.

  • Publish digital videos and Téléjournal OttawaGatineau reports on social networks; quickly publish video segments for breaking news in both 16:9 and vertical formats.

  • Participate in managing video rundowns; ensure the editorial direction and station positioning are reflected in video content.

  • Highlight video clips on the Radio-Canada website and social platforms.

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in video communication.

  • Create infographics (charts maps simple photo montages) to enhance web articles.

  • Contribute to managing the deployment schedule for video and social media content likely to spark engagement and sharing.

  • Manage the production of special digital formats under the supervision of a senior digital producer; support the web team with photo and video management.

  • Ensure quality control for photos and headlines for continuous news coverage.

  • Pitch content ideas and digital formats bringing originality to proposed treatments.

  • Moderate comments on Radio-Canadas digital platforms and ensure compliance with netiquette.

  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings or weekends depending on news events and staffing needs.


Your profile:

  • University degree or a relevant combination of education and experience

  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in producing and publishing digital content (e.g. content structures and calendars video and audio publishing social media content management systems)

  • Excellent communication writing and organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify engaging and impactful stories

  • Collaborative team player

  • Advanced knowledge of Avid Adobe Premiere and other similar visual editing software

  • Strong audio and video editing skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities while collaborating with various teams across the organization

  • Good tolerance for stress and pressure

  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace

  • Strong knowledge of news in the National Capital Region

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices is an asset

  • Knowledge of web analytics is an asset

  • Knowledge of Radio-Canadas digital production tools (Scoop Picto Transit Mediacentral Medianet) is an asset

  • Knowledge of photography and video shooting is an asset

  • Knowledge of English is an asset
