Provides strategic direction programming leadership operational oversight and evaluation for pre-college programming in support of preparing individuals to be successful in their higher education endeavors. The Director of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science is responsible for supervising programs managing staff and resources and coordinating the activity of the Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science grants. The Director provides strategic direction operational oversight leadership and evaluation for UW-Green Bays two Upward Bound programs that support preparing high school students to be successful in their higher education endeavors. This position works closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Access and Success to advise institutional and divisional leadership on Upward Bound and for expanding UW-Green Bays mission to provide equitable access to higher education. With a passion for equity and access the Director serves as an advocate to promote college going culture and success for K-12 students.
The Director of Upward Bound Programs is the supervisor of Upward Bound Advisors and program support staff and is responsible for evaluating staffing needs hiring of new staff and evaluation of team members. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Access and Success with strong connections to other university departments.
Works with Upward Bound Programs staff to collect student academic data and prepare it for Annual Performance Report to Department of Education
Plans and implements hybrid 6-week summer program for participants including being on-call roll for 3 weeks while students are in person and chaperoning a one week out of state trip.
Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups including the Office of Grants and Research the Department of Education program officer and partner school staff to ensure compliance with federal state institutional and sponsor requirements.
Exercises supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of 5.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Some travel is required for necessary meetings workshops conferences etc. Occasional evening and/or weekend work is expected especially around K-12 spring break period and June/July for the hosted summer program.
This position may have the option to work on-campus or a hybrid schedule subject to approved telecommuting request.
The home campus of this positionis Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus based on operational needs.
Position is a full-time Limited appointment. A pre-employment education check which includes but is not limited to the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s).
