This position reports to Enbridge Gas North Carolinas Gastonia Operations Center in Gastonia North Carolina.

What You Will Do:

• Will primarily perform location of natural gas lines and facilities
• Installs pipe in ditches
• Manually digs around utilities
• Pressure tests steel and plastic lines
• Locates natural gas lines and facilities
• Participatesin the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of natural gas leaks
• Completespipe maintenance activities
• Safely drivesa company vehicle
• Setsup common Department of Transportation approved work sites and flagging traffic
• Maintainstruck inventory
• Installstest charts

Duties are subject to change based on business need.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education experience knowledge skills and abilities.

Who You Are:

Trainee-Gas - 0-6 months experience

Gas Operations & Maintenance Specialist I* - at least 12 months experience

*highest level an applicant can be hired

Knowledge and skill with common hand and power tools (i.e. shovel screwdriver pipe wrench drill Sawzall etc.).
Ability to be fit tested for self-contained breathing apparatus equipment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for positive customer and contractor interactions arecritical.
Ability to work as a team member within a diverse team.
Basic computer and internet navigation skills.
Availability for overtime and natural gas emergency response during the workday as well as in the evenings and some weekends when on-call.

Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Gastonia area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for Enbridge Gas North Carolina and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement including when on-call.

Occasional heavy lifting up to 80 lbs. independently.
Ability to adhere to safe working and driving procedures.

Preferred Knowledge Skills Abilities & Experience:

6 12 months experience locating natural gas lines and facilities or other utilities.

Good mechanical aptitude.
Bilingual (Spanish) candidates.

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e. GED) is required.

Licenses Certifications or Quals Description

Must have a valid drivers license with a safe driving history.

A valid Commercial Drivers License is strongly preferred OR must be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License within 6 months of employment.

Other Working Conditions

Position works in a crew structure.

Work is performed primarily outside in varying weather conditions (i.e. cold heat rain etc.).

Locating duties require the ability to perform extensive walking sometimes on uneven terrain.

Position requires travel throughout the service territory with safe parking in a wide variety of situations and driving in construction zones.

May encounter agitated/irate customers.
