We have an exciting new opening for a Payable and Refund Lead to join our growing Financial Services team in our Directors Office!

Duties

As the Payable and Refund Lead you will serve as our go-to expert for all program refund this pivotal role youll review reconcile and verify the accuracy and compliance of every processed and returned refund including warrant cancellations. Youll collaborate closely with teams across all divisions providing skilled oversight guidance and consultation on complex and specialized accounting activities. Your expertise will help us maintain integrity streamline processes and support high-quality financial operations. Most importantly the work you do will directly support our agency in helping every Washington resident to live work drive and thrive.

Some of what you will do:

  • Ensure compliance with DOL SAAM GAAP GASB RCW WAC and UCP policies.
  • Perform complex review and analysis to ensure all refunds and cancellations are accurate and use the appropriate General Ledgers (GL) and Chart of Accounts (COA) coding per sub-ledgers.
  • Track trends determine audit compliance and produce Journal Vouchers (JVs) to make corrections as needed.
  • Review and release ensuring accuracy for all rent and utility payments made by the Fiscal Analyst 1.

Qualifications

What you will bring:

Three (3) years of professional experience in accounting auditing or other professional based fiscal fields.

Two (2) years of relevant education that includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting auditing or budgeting may substitute year for year for experience.

Experience must include:

  • One (1) year of experience accurately use the ten-key numerical keypad on a computer or adding machine to enter numerical data by touch.

  • One (1) year of experience entering accurate accounting related information into an electronic accounting system.

  • One (1) year providing customer service by listening attentively identifying issues providing options fulfilling services and/or exercising knowledge of laws and regulations to assist others.

  • One (1) year of experience conveying ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.

  • One (1) year of experience using spreadsheet software such as Excel to find and replace data create modify print and format spreadsheets work with basic formulas and functions use templates styles autoformat and multiple worksheets.

  • One (1) year of experience using word processing software such as Microsoft Word and personal information web manager.

  • Six (6) months of experience analyzing and reconciling general or subsidiary ledger for validity and accuracy.

  • Six (6) months of experience performing research gathering applicable records and managing hardcopy and electronic accounting records.
  • The ability to:

What may help set you apart:
  • Experience accurately inputting data and reviewing transactions in Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and ability to run Enterprise Reporting reports.

  • Knowledge of Office of Financial Management (OFM) Federal and State regulations and guidelines.

  • Experience using DOL specific systems such as DRIVES or POLARIS.

  • Experience in accounting theory principles and practices internal control procedures financial management software applications and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
