Position Overview:
The Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) Assistant Manager will support day-to-day activities operations oversight and decisions regarding the CDP programs which can include nutrition pre-diabetes tobacco cessation and asthma. The Assistant Manager will support in the assessment planning and implementation of all of CDP day-to-day operations to ensure improving the health outcomes of the community through innovative evidence-based programs and community partnerships. Ensure compliance in accordance with the federal state and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies procedures and guidelines of HCPH.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides direct oversight and direction to CDP program staff as it relates to assessment planning and implementation of the Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) operations. Directly covers all program operations in the absence of the CDP Program Manager.
Directly work with the CDP Program Manager and department leadership to ensure proper planning and implementation of all CDP programs (nutrition pre-diabetes tobacco cessation and asthma).
Monitors the progress of the programs grant metrics & goals and notifies program leadership of progress towards achieving those goals on a regular basis.
Assures proper program personnel development and direction including activities related to recruitment selection training professional development effective communication evaluation and discipline within CDP.
Participates in programmatic budget preparation and management for specified funding including county-funded grant-funded and other funding opportunities.
Prepares various statistical reports relating to CDP programing and services.
Collaborates with partners (internal and external) to establish and maintain professional networking relationships.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Must be willing to flex work hours when required including weekends.
Able to travel within Harris County as needed.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both a professional & community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
This role requires the ability to lift carry push pull up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
