Job Summary

St Leonards College is seeking an experienced and passionate IEL Program Coordinator to lead our new Intensive English Language (IEL) program. This exciting initiative supports students from non-English speaking backgrounds to develop language proficiency prior to transitioning successfully into mainstream classes.

Working collaboratively with other key staff the role will be responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering a full-time intensive English language program.
  • Coordinating all aspects of the program including curriculum development student orientation and day-to-day operations.
  • Providing academic advice and pastoral care to students enrolled in the program.
  • Ensuring compliance with NEAS ESOS Act and VRQA guidelines.
  • Leading professional development for staff involved in the program.

This pivotal position offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of our IEL program students and support their integration into Middle School VCE/VET or IB Diploma pathways.

This is a full time permanent teaching position with the IEL Program Coordinator role offered with a 3-year tenure as a position of responsibility. The role is expected to commence from Term 2 2026 (or by negotiation) with the first intake of IEL students to commence at the beginning of Term 3 2026. As a position of responsibility the IEL Program Coordinator role includes a time allocation and a monetary allowance to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

To be successful in this opportunity you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education and current VIT registration.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in TESOL or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience in organising and leading an intensive English language program (ELICOS or similar).
  • A strong understanding of the ESOS Act NEAS Quality Framework and VRQA compliance requirements.
  • Fluency in a language other than English (desirable).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students staff and families.
  • A current knowledge of contemporary educational issues and the role of English language programs within a secondary school environment.
