Berklees Counseling & Survivor Advocacy Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counselor/Multicultural Specialist to join our diverse mental health team. About the Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Survivor Advocacy Services you will provide comprehensive mental health services using a short-term treatment model. A key focus is on developing therapeutic relationships and programming that prioritize inclusion empowerment and strength-based interventions particularly for historically underserved student populations. Some evening availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an ongoing clinical caseload providing short-term individual and group psychotherapy and psychological assessments.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as part of the emergency counselor rotation and as needed.
  • Develop and lead community mental health initiatives for underserved student populations such as expressive arts offerings.
  • Serve as a liaison to student affinity groups and identity-based programs.
  • Staff daily drop-in hours specifically for students for whom counseling services have been historically stigmatized.
  • Conduct assessments and refer as appropriate to community providers for advanced or longer-term treatment.
  • Maintain all pertinent clinical documentation and participate in weekly supervision meetings.

What Youll Bring

We are looking for a licensed professional with a passion for college mental health and demonstrated experience working effectively within a highly diverse community.

Key Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work Counseling Psychology or related field required.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure (LICSW LMHC LMFT Psychologist or equivalent) or license-eligible within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling or closely related work particularly community-based interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with multicultural and diverse student populations.
  • Strong psychological assessment individual/group counseling and crisis intervention skills.
  • Strong consultation and presentation/training skills.
  • Knowledge of student development and psychological theories/principles.

Hiring Range: $73000 to $86000; salary dependent on relevant experience and education.
