Clifton is currently searching for an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Earth Sciences practice team in Prince George BC. Residency in the Prince George area is required for this position and we welcome candidates from across the province who are eager to contribute to our work in the region. In this role you will work with a dynamic group of professionals across a broad range of disciplines and play a key role in the delivery of professional engineering services for a variety of exciting geotechnical projects throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in a wide variety of geotechnical projects and field programs including field investigation laboratory testing and interpretation design and construction geotechnical analysis and dam safety inspections and reviews.
• Complete and oversee implementation of geotechnical design and other construction monitoring services including installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation.
• Evaluate geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations retaining structures and earth structures.
• Create and edit engineering design drawings plans and details (including excavation grading utilities roadwork report figures etc.).
• Complete geotechnical analyses and design tasks with a focus on soil mechanics summarize and interpret laboratory data.
• Ensure effective project management including accountability for financial and technical performance to ensure project milestone and deliverables are met on time and within scope.
• Complete or review technical proposals and design work packages in response to client needs.
• Support business development activities including recruitment of new clients and new sectors of the economy not currently being served by Clifton.
• Maintain positive working relationships with vendors consultants internal stakeholders and other parties vital to our business success.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and geologists to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Act as a safety leader and champion for Cliftons health and safety program.
• Ensure adherence to Cliftons Quality Management System (QMS) in project delivery including contracts management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Civil Geotechnical Geological or Mining Engineering. Preference given to candidates who have obtained a Graduate Degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in geotechnical/geologic exploration analysis and design including mine waste and tailings management and geohazard assessment.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
• Experience using geological modelling and geotechnical software (Slope W Rocscience FLAC etc.).
• Strong organizational skills including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with the ability to meet deadlines in the context of work/life balance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication time and team management skills.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Must reside in British Columbia to fulfill travel and project requirements within the province.
• Ability to travel to various locations (including remote locations) to complete field work as required.
• Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and be comfortable driving mid- to full-size trucks in urban rural and construction environments.
• Continued attention to safety and safe work environments with a strong workplace safety orientation.

Base Salary Range

$85000 to $135000 annually based upon a 40-hour work week. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience as noted in the job posting. Compensation is subject to variations based on factors such as education experience skillset and location. Actual salary will reflect the successful candidates unique qualifications and experience.
