Downers National Projects team has secured the Mid-Block section of the Hawkes Bay Expressway a key part of the RONS programme. This major infrastructure project will deliver the upgrade of the existing expressway to four lanes alongside significant safety and resilience improvements.

Downer will deliver the full scope of civil construction and pavement works in partnership with NZTA contributing to a safer and more efficient transport network for the Hawkes Bay region.

Downer is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to join our team delivering the Hawkes Bay this role you will plan organise direct and control daily site activities ensuring all works are completed safely efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You will manage crews and subcontractors optimise plant and resources and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.

This role is hands-on and provides an opportunity to make a real impact on the delivery of a critical regional transport project. The right person will be based full time in Napier.

Ngā kawenga matua Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations coordinating crews and subcontractors to deliver works on time within budget and to specification
• Ensure compliance with all safety quality environmental and project requirements
• Conduct audits inspections and reporting to maintain high standards of quality and Zero Harm performance
• Optimise plant equipment and material use to meet project targets and minimise downtime
• Maintain accurate site documentation and records including daily job reports
• Support staff development providing coaching mentoring and training opportunities
• Manage relationships with clients stakeholders subcontractors and the local community
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture on site ensuring all personnel are inducted trained and operating safely

Ngā pūkenga matua Skills & Experience

• 5 years experience in civil construction supervision or contracting
• Strong leadership and crew management experience
• Proven experience in roading or large civil infrastructure projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Competent with IT systems and site reporting tools
• NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Site Supervision) preferred or willingness to work towards it
• Ability to lead motivate and develop a high-performing team
• Strong understanding of safety quality and environmental compliance
