LONG TERM SUB - Chemistry Teacher (Anticipated)Starting roughly December 2025 for 8 to 10 weeks.Overview:Science teachers are responsible for creating safe engaging and respectful learning environments for all students. This individual demonstrates sound pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of chemistry. The candidate has an understanding of the concepts processes and techniques related to the scientific process specifically those related to Chemistry. The candidate employs a variety of age and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and tools designed to meet the needs of all learners. The ideal candidate collaborates well with the Curriculum Coordinator Science Lead and colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness with a diverse group of students. The candidate can successfully establish strong relationships with students faculty parents and community. This position is for 5 sections of Chemistry.
Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to:- Plan organize and deliver lessons and learning activities that align with the concepts processes and techniques related to the scientific process specifically those related to Chemistry and utilize the Universal Design for Learning guidelines
- Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging for students and in which mutual respect is shown
- Facilitate lab experiences for students that are engaging and directly relate to relevant concepts
- Implement authentic assessments to determine student growth and effectively communicate feedback and data to students parents administration
- Work with colleagues to plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do
- Incorporate a variety of instructional methods technology and media best suited for science content and skills
- Establish and maintain standards for student behavior that afford a healthy safe and enjoyable learning environment
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
Licensing Requirements:- DESE Licensure in Chemistry (8-12)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Degree with a concentration in Chemistry preferred
