Role
The Demand Sectors Unit is looking for a Young Associate to contribute to the substantive policy output of the Directorate producing the IEA flagship publication World Energy Outlook. The Young Associate will report directly to one of the team leads within the Demand Sectors Unit at the IEA contributing to energy demand-side modelling and by assisting with research and co-ordination tasks and other projects that may be assigned by the manager. As an integral part of the Energy Modelling Office the Young Associate will work with the Head of the Demand Sectors Unit a team of modellers and analysts.
Main Responsibilities
- Compilation of data and policies on energy clean energy transitions climate and development as part of the World Energy Outlook analyses and other related publications.
- Working closely with the lead analysts in the Division contribute to activities such as drafting working papers and reports analysis external and internal consultation and results dissemination.
- Working closely with colleagues contribute to WEO analysis and modelling and support teamwork and co-operation.
- The organisation of meetings and workshop related to WEO publications.
- Assisting with answers to queries preparation of graphs tables and presentations as required.
- Support cross-agency activities including for instance the organisation of high-level events.
Qualifications :
Ideal Candidate Profile
Academic Background
- An undergraduate university degree in economics engineering international relations or other relevant discipline (graduation date between 1 January 2025 and 1 September 2026). Applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Masters PhD or equivalent degree will not be considered.
- Course work in energy engineering economics public policy statistics quantitative analysis and econometrics is desirable.
Tools
- Knowledge of Python is desirable.
Skills
- Knowledge of energy sector dynamics is desirable.
- Excellent quantitative skills and proven analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
