Job Summary

Role

GOV is seeking a highly motivated Young Associate to work in the Directors Office to conduct research and analysis to contribute substantively to GOVs work and decision-making across areas of public governance. The Young Associate will contribute effectively to achieving the OECDs strategic objectives.

In this role the Young Associate will undertake research projects prepare materials presentations and background analysis and contribute to developing innovative data visualisation. They will also provide statistical and quantitative analysis carry out literature reviews and contribute to drafting policy and research papers in support of the global agenda on structural reforms to achieve strong sustainable and inclusive growth. This may include being directly involved in a project possibly spending several months in a specific Division.

The selected candidate will report directly to GOVs Deputy Director and work closely with colleagues in GOV Divisions and other OECD Directorates.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of cross-cutting work on Public Governance by undertaking qualitative and quantitative research on public sector effectiveness and government capacity to tackle governance challenges.
  • Contribute to the collection of data and preparing analytical inputs for key analytical reports on OECD Member and partner countries.
  • Prepare briefing materials and background analysis for the OECD Directors Office.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and contribute to drafting policy and research papers.
  • Contribute to developing innovative data visualisation.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • Undergraduate degree in public governance/management/administration international relations political science economics law or other relevant discipline (graduation date between 1 January 2025 and 1 September 2026). Applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Masters PhD or equivalent degree will not be considered.
  • Coursework in applied research and analysis is required preferably in the area of public governance.
  • Coursework in undertaking cross-country research including quantitative research is desirable.

Skills

  • Keen interest in and good understanding of global and national public governance policy issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and drafting research papers would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Experience in a national administration or an international organisation would be an asset.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and a knowledge of or willingness to learn the other.
