JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
This position will manage project portfolios supporting electric grid technologies and modernization. Plans monitors and manages complex capital projects with multiple dependencies from conception through execution. Manages projects to on-time completion according to specifications and within current budget costs.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead coordination among cross-functional internal teams (business functions / operating companies; information technology; supply chain; regulatory; finance; legal; risk management) and external parties (manufacturers suppliers and other potential stakeholders) to develop and deploy grid technologies from concept through execution.
Provide regulatory team engagement support around grid technology investments that includes responding to questions around various project aspects costs risks and benefits including technical economic and industry comparisons.
Formal identification of project risks and issues and mitigation plans for both.
Identify critical path workstreams. Ensure timely decisions and take prompt action on project issues that could impact project cost timelines and/or operating performance. Work cross-functionally to address bottlenecks. As needed be able to communicate issues to next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability to resolve.
Monitor project budget and development progress and timelines. Provide clear timely and accurate project status reports for management and external stakeholders if applicable (e.g. regulators). Prepare and provide reports and presentation updates to project sponsors and upper management.
Implement change management and the implementation of changes with minimal negative impact to the organization.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelors degree in engineering business economics accounting or related field.
Minimum experience required of the position
7 years professional experience.
5 years experience with regulated electric or gas utilities.
Formal or informal leadership experiences that demonstrate an ability to leverage knowledge skills and abilities.
Formal or informal experiences in project management preferably in energy industry.
Preferred: Contract management cross-organizational communication and knowledge of distribution work processes.
Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position
Practical understanding of assets infrastructure tools systems and processes used in distribution and/or transmission of electricity and/or gas. Solid understanding of project management tools and principles required. Specific knowledge of Entergys Capital Project Standard preferred. Outstanding written and verbal skills including the ability to clearly communicate and express self well in groups and one on one conversations. The ability to influence others without direct authority such as the direct authority of a Supervisor. Understanding of Change Configuration and Risk Management principles and the ability to apply those principles. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word Excel PowerPoint required. Knowledge Entergys cost accounting processes and systems desirable. Knowledge of Entergys distribution and/or transmission
processes and systems (or comparable utility) including new and emerging technologies desirable.
Any certificates licenses etc. required for the position
Certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) certificate strongly encouraged but not required.
