In this strategic role you will be responsible for supervising and developing a small team of senior accountants dedicated to accounting for and tracking tangible and intangible assets as well as lease agreements. Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager you will be an integral part of the Financial Information and Operations team at TC Transcontinentals head office.
You will actively contribute to continuous improvement projects and the integration of new acquisitions in collaboration with various internal teams such as Financial Reporting Financial Analysis Information Technology and the operational sectors. The position is based at 1 Place Ville-Marie Montreal with the possibility of teleworking.
Responsibilities
When your actions lead to success:
- Supervise support and develop the team of senior accountants ensuring effective task allocation and promoting their professional development.
- Monitor and analyze consolidated and non-consolidated items related to tangible and intangible fixed assets (continuity notes signing bonuses cash flow movements etc.).
- Monitor and analyze leases in accordance with IFRS 16.
- Develop and implement control procedures to ensure the accuracy of financial data and compliance with internal policies.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to optimize the production and quality of financial information.
- Actively participate in projects to automate and optimize fixed asset management.
- Provide financial data for tax returns statutory financial statements and internal and external audits.
- Prepare notes to the consolidated financial statements for tangible and intangible fixed assets and leases.
- Provide support to plants and team members during monthly closing periods.
Qualifications
When your expertise drives us:
- CPA designation (required)
- Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including experience in fixed asset management (an asset)
- Excellent analytical synthesis and problem-solving skills
- Sense of initiative autonomy and proactive approach
- Excellent command of Excel
- Knowledge of ERP systems (PeopleSoft Longview an asset)
- Bilingualism in French/English required; knowledge of Spanish is an asset
- Strong communication skills and team spirit
