Possible placement includes:

Environmental & Regulatory Compliance

The student will be working on various projects related to waste management regulatory inspections and data visualization. The role offers hands-on experience in managing compliance data and developing reports that contribute to the teams goals of maintaining regulatory adherence and supporting environmental stewardship.

Regulatory Services

This role offers the opportunity to support the Regulatory Services team in project-specific work including environmental applications monitoring and pipeline and facility licensing. It provides valuable exposure to regulatory frameworks environmental monitoring practices and business strategy. This position is designed to develop expertise in regulatory compliance environmental stewardship and business acumen.

What youll do

Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific position assigned to but they may include:

Regulatory Compliance

  • Compile key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports to track the effectiveness of waste management tools across various assets.

  • Record and monitor regulatory inspections ensuring timely updates in compliance tracking systems and accurate closure within regulatory databases.

  • Develop and maintain detailed Power BI reports to provide stakeholders with insights into waste management performance and compliance metrics.

  • Work with compliance staff on projects such as compiling and presenting WRAP (Waste Receiver Audit Program) results to enhance decision-making.

Environment:

  • Assist the Regulatory Services team with tasks related to environmental applications monitoring activities and pipeline and facility licensing.

  • Track and analyze environmental outcomes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in environmental stewardship.

  • Maintain accurate records of license applications and provide support in tracking their progress.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support various project activities ensuring seamless communication and task execution across different team functions.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canadafull-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g. work visa).

  • Available to begin work in May 2026.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills specifically Excel.

  • Excellent interpersonal judgement and decision-making skills.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Environmental Science Environmental Engineering Biology Ecology Geography Environmental Systems/Management etc. at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work termOR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.

  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.

  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
