- Determines negotiations and agrees on in-house and externally verifiable quality procedures standards and specifications
- Assesses customer requirements and ensures that these are met including setting customer service standards
- Specifies quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers
- Investigates and sets standards for product quality health and safety.
- Leads the food safety team towards internal and external audits for regulatory bodies or customers
- Ensures that manufacturing processes comply with standards at both national and international levels
- Works with operations and production staff to establish procedures standards and systems
- Writes management and technical reports and customers charters
- Determines training needs and liaises with the HR department to close them
- Encourages change and improvement in performance and quality
- Directs objectives to maximize profitability and monitors product and production performance
- Uses records analyses and statistical information to guide management decisions.
- Carries out monitoring testing and inspection of products and materials to ensure the finished product meets quality standards
- Supervises technical or laboratory staff.
- Represent the company at trade association meetings and external events to promote products.
- Achievement of product quality and Food Safety.
- Thorough cleaning and preventive maintenance activities on the machine to be carried out within the standard time.
- Efficient and proper operation of the machine in terms of machine availability and the matching of speeds to the quality of materials inputs.
- To ensure all machines are operated according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Requirements
Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Food Science Chemistry Microbiology Biotechnology Engineering or a related discipline.
A Masters degree or MBA in Quality Management Operations or a related field is an added advantage.
Certifications such as:
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000
Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
